Things of the week

The title reminds me of the fact that my mom once said if there was no such word as "thing" I wouldn't know how to talk. Touche.

~Last weekend I turned 35. It was all quite anti-climactic. We did, however, get to go on a lovely double date with these guys. In honor of Mr. Spice and I sharing the same birthday. And also the fact The Elephant Bar has happy hour on weekends. Anyhoo, I'm officially "high-risk" in pregnancy for AGE. Uh, hello. I still get pimples. Please tell me, how is it fair that I have the glands of a teenager and am considered an "older" mother?

~Since we discovered - much to our delight! - that we would be adding a boy to our repertoire of girls (thanks for all of the congrats!!), I am a little amazed to find myself the slightest bit disappointed... To not re-use some adorable little tiny baby girl outfits and snuggling a teeny baby girl. I know this is weird, but it's what I know - I feel like teeny babies should be girls! Girl babies. I heart girl babies so. The excitement Justin has (and myself, for that matter) to have a little boy far outweighs my tiny disappointment, but I find it interesting that it's there. I guess I just chalk it up to really, really liking my girls. Except possibly yesterday with Littlest. Whoo. Two: you stink!

~I have a MUCH easier time with girls' names. Now that I know "it's" a HE!!!, I want to name him yesterday. Which would be SO MUCH EASIER if there was not the whole "agreeing with Daddy" to contend with. I contend Mommies should have naming rights along with the gas, stretch-marks, nausea, sleeplessness, hugeness and overall 9 months of angst. Who's with me?!

~A girl at Gracie's school told Gracie yesterday she has horse teeth. Which got me to considering how I could knock her teeth right OUT without any questions being asked. Ahem.

~I discovered that my OB's scale is a good 2-3 pounds off of mine. In a good way! Almost makes up for the fact I'm kept waiting foooreeeever every time I go and "greeted" by the same hostile receptionist whose name is Daisy. Daisy, your name should be Shereese. Or some other equally ugly name.

~Coco has her first loose tooth! Huge, HUGE news that "I have to tell everybody about. Everybody at school, everybody at Awana, everybody at church. EVERYBODY!! Everybody's gonna be so excited!" She's estatic and meanwhile, I'm already starting to miss her sweet baby teeth. The adult tooth is already peeking up behind it. Why, oh why, do adorable little girls have to grow up? Uh, I mean, YAY for loose teeth!

~I'm very, very blessed. And not just this week. Also, I have to pee constantly. And not just this week.

1974 babies! Hollah! (I won't be 35 till Sept. though.) And it has made me wonder about what fabulous tests, etc, I'd have to go through if we had another baby.

-pimples SUCK and it should be illegal to get them past the age of 22.

-you will find that tiny little boy babies are just as cuddly and cute, I promise.

-Sorry I am a lame friend and I forgot your birthday. I am trying to make it up to you though, I found my baby book and I have started my list and I am WAY over 10 now.

-I don't have anything else to say, but I didn't feel like 3 points were sufficient enough:)

Happy birthday!

Trust me, boys are just as much fun to snuggle as newborns. And while their outfits may not be quite as pretty, they are adorable. Little polo shirts and khaki pants? Precious on a 3 month old!

YOU are going to have soooo much fun! We're thrilled for the whole lot of you! (And remember, there really IS more to life than laundry!) : ) Love you so.

Well I will be the first to completely AGREE with your opinion on naming rights! After all the peeing and pain and bloating and PAIN, if we want to name the kid Taullulah Twirlypants, so be it.

I feel the same way about baby girls. When I see my friends with little boys, they seem like a different species. (Which there are some days I think they may actually be. Husband, I'm talking to you.)

Cole. Is that what Spicy was referring to?

The first loose tooth, I remember it giving a little boost to the "This is FUN!" part of parenting. I liked being Tooth Fairy!
