My grandma died last night. She wanted to, was tired of the pain. So, I guess I should be happy for her. I kind of am. All of the (mostly great) memories come flooding back and I just feel an intense ache in my gut. I'm 34 years old and she is the first grandparent I've lost -- I've been so very blessed. And evidently come from amazing genes... guess I'd better start taking better care of myself.Fuzzy Grandma and Grandpa with the kids last Christmas. This Christmas won't feel right at all.

I'm so sorry. :-( I lost my grandparents last year- within a week of each other- and they were the only grandparents I'd ever known. It's a big loss, because they are people who have been in your life your ENTIRE life.
You can be happy for her- but sad for you. It's okay!
I'm so sorry for your loss. All of my grandparents have passed. I miss my mom's mom most of all. We were very close. The holidays seem a bit hallow without her.

Oh Kristi, I'm so sorry. It is so hard to lose someone that has been such an important part of your life. What a blessing that your children were able to get to know her, too. My grandpa on my mom's side and my grandmother on my father's passed away within a year of each other, both following long painful illnesses. As hard as it was, knowing that their suffering was over helped me some. As difficult as it is to do now, try to focus on the lifetime of wonderful memories you have.

I am so sorry, it hurts so bad to lose a loved one. My grandmother passed away three years ago in December and it still hurts, and even when we know they're in a better place and they're no longer in pain, we still miss them.
