I slept for a solid seven hours last night. HALLELUJAH.
I was just emptying the dishwasher, for the eleventy-millionth time, putting the clean glasses away and it just dawned on me that I had a dream. I haven't dreamt in... when was Clinton president again?... a long, long time. Supposedly dreaming is an indication of heavy, rem sleep, right? So not only did I sleep, I remmed. If we ever have a boy child, he shall be known as Rem.
Back to emptying the dishwasher (if, at this point, you decide to go watch golf on tv in lieu of reading the remainder of this, no one here will judge you). As I was putting the glasses away on shelves with no contact paper, I remembered the dream. I was magically transported to a store that sold nothing but contact paper and I was REQUIRED to choose one to line my cabinets with. I could NOT decide, was in great agony over it and fiiinally decided it should be down to the red family. So after looking through 39,984 samples in the red family, I had painstakingly narrowed it down to two patterns. One was striped with a a few other colors thrown in for good measure and the other was a flower/swirl pattern. I was strongly leaning toward the flower/swirl and then a full bladder put an end to it.
You're welcome for that play by play. 15 seconds you'll never get back.
Whatever happened to the dreams that I was embarrassed/mortified/amused/delighted/terrified/entertained to remember the next morning? Have I developed into a person SO boring that even my dreams (why is that plural?) consist solely of contact paper?
Contact paper.
In ten years or so, when I have my next dream, I'll probably have to convey it play by play again - I just hope it's at least entertaining, if not scandalous.

This just makes me feel guilty about not having changed my contact paper in a long time.
Is this about the aprons? Cause if it is....you need help....much farther beyond the help you already have. Seriously....they...are...aprons. And...you're gonna....love em.
I'll get them to you by next weekend. Love you!
It MUST have originated with my horrible fabric store outing! I didn't think of that. DUH.
Hey, that's twice in nine days, my sleepless kindred. I dreamed not long ago that I was back in high school, and this time I was a "football player". ooooooooooh. But I didn't go back as a teenager, no, I was a forty-seven or so year old. This was odd enough even in dream land to make me think, in the dream, that I must be dreaming. My dream was so real though that I actually concluded that I wasn't dreaming. Now that, my friend, is good dreaming!
I'm just glad you're getting some much needed rest Kristi! Great!!
I have to agree with Kathy, just the fact that you're getting good sleep is enough for me. I can't remember my last dream either, which should say something about how exciting it was.
Well good for you because I have no trouble sleeping and I still have no clue what my dreams are the next morning, however I am positive that I DID dream! Does that make sense....
call me, miss you.
Don't work on Thursday, watcha doin'?
Glad you got some rest!
Though I am sorry you had to get up before you made that final decision! ;o)
Well--first thank you for visiting my blog and the sweet comment you left. I don't think I've been called cute in about 15 years :)!
Second--you are SO not alone in your desire to dream *something* exciting! I finally had a dream yesterday---one of those crazy nap dreams. I dreamt my friend would not get out of my hot tub and I had to pull him along in the hot tub while it was sitting on a wagon. Can you say w-e-i-r-d?
Happy Monday to you!
Contact paper. I had no idea there were so many choices :)
I can totally relate with "no sleep!" I have a 3 year old that hasn't slept through the night yet...and come to think of I don't think I have had a dream since he was born!
Enjoyed your post...it hit home!
Haha! I think my dreams have gotten duller as I've gotten older too. Oh well.
Hmmm. I think you need more practice in the dreaming field. Maybe request a weekend away for Christmas? Think of the dreams you could acquire in a whole weekend!!
Uh oh, you have another Julia commenting- I will have to make my uniqueness known another way. I already love your blog- Who knew that contact paper dreams could be so enlightening?
Who knew contact paper came in so many colors, and patterns!? I just want to find a store that has a few more options for a Christmas table cloth other than bright red or pine needle green.
