Happy Birthday, Beautiful Bug!

Cora Jane,

You are 4 years old today, May "Aye". It seems like yesterday I was pregnant with you, crying myself to sleep because I knew I couldn't love another as much as I loved Gracie. I hurt for your feelings because my heart already belonged to her and surely you'd get the shaft. Until you experience it for yourself, you just can't know how truly, totally and completely you can give your heart to each of your kids. You had a dramatic entrance into the world and a few days after you were born, I was rocking you and hot tears of joy and utter adoration dripped onto your cheeks... and I knew I was just as in love with you as I was with her. The tears woke you up and our lovely moment was derailed, but we have had many since. You slept through the night starting at three weeks old and then you became my favorite. ;)

You continually amaze me with your sweet spirit, gorgeous brown eyes and ability to make up corny songs that always make me laugh out loud. Aside from the whining (enough already with the whining) -- actually, make that aside from the whining and high-pitched (usually Gracie-induced) screaming, you are truly a joy to be around. You have always been a wonderful big sister and you love to include Mary, especially when there are treats involved. Lest we neglect her of a sugar high. You're very generous and will even offer up your last treat to someone else. Sometimes me -- and I confess, sometimes I take it. I ALWAYS take it if it's chocolate.

You're a funny one. You could live on milk alone. And watch The Sound of Music 24/7. Everything "scares" you. You have a hard time listening. If you don't get your way, you generally repeat yourself LOUDER, as if that would help. You forgive easily and don't hold grudges. You love flowers and can hardly control yourself not to pick them wherever we go. You say what's on your mind. You do the pee pee dance with vigor allthewhile claiming you don't have to go... then you dash off, return and say: that was CLOSE!

I love so very much about you... I love the crinkle in your nose when you smile hugely, I love that so much is exciting to you, I love that you're tenderhearted, I love that you love books, I love your sense of humor, I love the way your eyebrows move when you're concerned about something, I love that you still crawl onto my lap and give me kisses, I love that you say things like that's a nice Hannah Montana shirt (it had a sparkle), I love that you can brighten my darkest days, but most of all, I love YOU... the good, the bad, the silly.

Coco, I'm so very glad I get to be your mommy. I totally scored in the kid department.

"that was CLOSE"- hahaha that is all kinds of adorable. These kinds of posts make me want to have kids.

But let's just pretend I didn't say that. Ok? Good.

Happy Birthday to her!

Can I try and type with tears...yep, I guess so. I love the way you love your girls and make me evaluate my own relationships with my children. I do love your girls as well. Some of the only ones that will say hi to me without me doing it first!! Happy B-day!

Happy Birthday Coco! I'm sorry I laughed at your sweet sad face that one time and made you cry. I've been taking self-control classes since then ;) Thanks for getting over it so quickly. You are one of the most adorable little girls I know and I love seeing how your Mommy loves you like crazy. Have a marvelous day!!!

Happy 4th, Coco! Please come over and tell Kate about the Sound of Music and it's greatness. We could all just sit and watch it together.

That's a great picture of her in her crown.

Oh Kristi, beautiful. I hope you print this out and save it for her to read and cherish when she's older. I don't know about you, but my mother was never one for expressing herself in such an open and tender way, and if I had something this from her I'd treasure it always. You are such a great mom.

Happy Birthday Coco!!

This was so sweet.

She sounds a lot like my almost-4-year-old - especially the part about the milk and the Sound of Music. Except instead of that movie, mine was obsessed with Mary Poppins and now she's into High School Musical. Ah, well. At least we're over the Wiggles phase. Yay!

Happy belated birthday to your little cutie.

Awww, this was really sweet. I do a birthday letter for my kids too, I think it's a great way to remember how they are NOW. She sounds like a sweetie!

If I could write a letter to me, I would have written a letter to my daughter just like the one Kristi wrote to Coco on Coco's 4th birthday. Something a daughter would cherish forever and perhaps not hate her mother from say, 15 until 18.

that kid in the middle may be the slowest but what she lacks in speed she makes up for in smiles.

sniff, sniff...She will do her own sniffing someday when she's 20 and reading this. You're such a great writer too.
