The guy that wrote/whistled the tune to The Andy Griffith Show has died. He lived a long and musical life and I'm sure will be missed. You can read about it here.
And now for the fun part...
if you can honestly say you didn't hum/whistle it (even in your head), I will send you something spectacular in the mail.

ps I'm pretty sure you have to be a hawaiian native to earn the spam visor...maybe I'll open my own mama losin' it store and sell aprons and spam visors...we may be on to something.
It's probably because of my post...I have a lot of pull around here. You know, like Oprah. Just mentioning the word SPAM drove prices up.

Okay ... I can't whistle. I've never been able to. But ... when I was in high school, we bird watched a bird (go figure) that sang that theme song. Only problem ... it would et stuck around "do do do ... do do doo doo" part and I couldn't help it! So it would start the song over! I was torture ... listening to that dumb song over and over again ... it getting stuck at the same old spot! And even with that type of motivation ... I still can't whistle!
I LOVE the Andy Griffith show!!! First I panicked when I read your post- I thought Andy Griffith had died!!!! I could hardly handle it when we lost Don Knotts. That's sad about the writer/whistler. :-(
I DVR the episodes on TVLand and we watch them all the time.
The music didn't start til you mentioned hearing it in my head and a prize. Oh I love prizes. But Mrs Spice beat me. (darn you Spicey!)
I did hum/whistle it. Can I still get something spectacular? I've had a hard day. haha. totally kidding. :)

So far Mrs. Spice and Lance (of Lance & Blogyn, I presume?) are getting something spectacular!! Yay for you! I'm shocked that anyone anywhere could NOT hum said tune, even now I am. Of course, I've seen most episodes, even some stupid ones in color... why, oh, why did they have to put them in color?! Mayberry is definitely a black and white town, so to speak.
I must have been signed in as Lance!!! That was me. I know the song but I couldn't recall it right away. You don't have to send me something spectacular. I just got greedy. ;)
i didn't hum or whistle, but only because it took me until like 2 seconds ago to remember the tune.
